Why won't my VoIP device work with D-Link router?

SIP ALG enables applications and devices to use voice over internet protocol to communicate over NAT. Certain VOIP devices and applications can even discover NAT devices and work on them. There is a high possibility of ALG interference when such devices are operating. 2) Check bandwidth 

To make your VOIP device work with the D-Link router, you must turn off or disable any devices which take a lot of bandwidth such as streaming videos and downloading files. Now, check the bandwidth by using a speed test tool. In case the upload speed is not more than 90 kbps, then you may experience certain issues in video quality. Get in touch with the VOIP provider and ask them if they offer bandwidth saver codec option. Additionally, you can communicate with your internet service provider and ask them to upgrade the service that has been offered to you.

3) Update firmware 

Issues in the older VOIP versions have been resolved in the latest versions. So, it is recommended for you to upgrade the firmware in order to fix the VOIP issues that you are dealing with. To update the firmware, you will have to download the file by going to the main website of the router manufacturer. After that, go to the administration settings and then upload the file. After that, install and then restart your device. There is a very rare chance where you may have to downgrade the firmware.

4) Check battery

Some router devices have battery backups. The battery stops hard reset of VOIP device when you encounter issues with it. Please keep in mind that majorly router devices don’t have a battery backup.

5) Keep your modem device in the bridge mode

Disable the router features of the modem device and use some other router device to order make your VOIP device work with D-Link router.

6) Chech NAT or Firewall

Go to the admin page of your router and turn off the firewall protection. Restart all the devices and see if you are able to make calls.
