How do I Upgrade the Firmware on DLink WiFi Extender?

Before starting this process to upgrade the firmware on my Dlink WiFi Extender, make sure the DAP-1520 is linked to an uplink router with an active Internet connection.

Step 1: Within the address box of a web browser, type http://dlinkap.local.

Step 2: In the area provided, type your Admin Password. The password section should be left blank if a password has not been changed from default settings. Login by clicking the Login button.

Step 3: Select Management from the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen, then select Upgrades.

Step 4: Automatic Upgrade: Click Check for New Firmware under Firmware Information. The device will perform a firmware update check. If a new firmware update is discovered, the new firmware's information will be presented. To begin the update process, select upgrade the firmware on my Dlink WiFi Extender

Manual Upgrade:

Install the firmware file on your local D-Link technical support website. Choose the.bin firmware file you uploaded using the Select File button under upgrade Directly. You can select that and then open it by tapping on the file once. Next to the Select File button, the file's name will be presented.

Step 5: To begin the firmware upgrade procedure, click Upload. The upgrade could take up to 30 seconds to complete.

Step 6: Once the firmware upgrade is finished, the device will restart automatically. You'll need to log in using your Administrator credentials once more.

Example: You can execute a factory reset to restore the settings to factory default if you forgot the password for your WiFi Extender's configuration interface.

Method 1:

With the unit turned on, press and hold the reset button (found within a hole on the unit's base) for 10 seconds with just a paperclip. To signify that the unit is restarting, the LED will turn red.

To use the extension, wait around 30 seconds. http://dlinkap.local or http://192.168.50 is the default IP address.

Method 2:

Move the pointer to the Management tab in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Next, pick System first from the drop-down menu on the main page of a configuration interface.

Select Restore Factory Defaults from the drop-down menu. To validate the factory reset, a caution message will be displayed. To finalise the factory reset, press OK.

There is no password to access the configuration interface with factory default settings. The Admin Password area should be left empty.
